Last week I got the privilege to be the photographer for Pride of Montpelier Pageant in Montpelier, Ohio. The event was held at the High School. The young ladies did not let anyone down. They gave there best, and it showed. This was the 4th pageant that I had the opportunity to shoot, and as always, the lighting is a challenge. I am only as good as the light and the spotlight personal lighting them up. Using constant light, I needed to go with a higher ISO (3200) on both of my Canon cameras. On top of the pageant, I also needed to set up a studio in a classroom and did it. Accidents happen when you least expect it, and when I was lowering my light, my main and best key light fell to the ground and broke. While I was not happy, as always, I had a plan B, and that was to set up a different key light due to the power. With all that, I still used my five light setups. This year pageant theme was the music of the ’80s, so I wanted to light it up like the ’80s. Congratulations to all of the participates and winners to this year’ Queens. I want to give a special thanks to the mother that was a tremendous help during the formal pictures.
