New York New York

This was our first time going out of the port of New York with our cruise line. As we started to head out to sea, I was admiring the architect around us, and yes, the camera was in hand.

One of the nice things with large cities is the time taken with the architect—seeing all the different lines and how they react to the other structures around them.

As our ship kept moving, I kept looking at what I felt were opportunities for a photo. Yes, even the landmarks that we all know.

Such a great city to see. I could not help thinking that possibly my ancestors came across this waterway at one time.

Bermdua

One of the places my wife and I wanted to go is Bermuda. So we took a cruise out from New York to Bermuda. Once we arrived in Bermuda, our ship for 3 days was used for our hotel. On our first day, we spent the day at Horseshoe Bay. One of their most popular beach and popular was right. We arrive at about 9 am to be greeted in a line for about 30 minutes to get chairs, an umbrella, and, yes, water. Once on the beach, it is beautiful.

Horseshoe Bay

This beach is known for its pink sand. I have to be honest, I did not see it, but maybe it is because of the morning. There were two areas on the beach. I call the calm area and the wave pool. The water was crystal clear and so lovely in temperature. By afternoon this area was wall to wall with people.

On our second day, we went for a ride around the island. We hired a person for $50.00 per hour to take us around the island. What an island. We did not see an area of litter or rundown. The people are very friendly and very proud of their island. I have some memories of the next time we go where I would like to spend some time. We went from one side of the island to the other and back. You know you are somewhat tropical because you even hit a rain shower now and then.

A litte shower stops nothing

On the 3rd day, we had a half day. We stayed on the ship because Bermuda has a national holiday and time to celebrate. Big Crickets tournament. If you want to go to this island, be prepared to spend some money, but it will be well worth it—a lovely place, and now it's time for the next location.

The Tall Sails

Wow, it's been some time since I have done a blog. I have been one busy photographer. Wedding, Commercial work, and having my kids from Wisconsin have kept me a little busy. I know, no excuse.

Last week, I was in Cleveland, Ohio, to see these great Sailboats for the first time. I have always seen them on TV but never live. We were advised to arrive early because parking for this event is very hard. I showed up 2 hours before the ships were to show up and barely found a spot.

The weather was great, and you could finally see these great ships in the distance. I was going to use a tripod, but because it was a very sunny day, I could hand hold my 400mm with a 2.0 extender and keep the speed at 1500. ISO was 200. The challenge I had was not holding the lens, but all boats were blocking our view. Most of these boats felt they needed to be right on their side and follow them for 10 min. But with some patients and help with Photoshop, I could eliminate them. I waited for an opening and then took the pictures. It is defiantly a challenge and very disappointing.

It was great seeing these ships and the work they have to do to improve our look of the past. Here are a few pictures that I came up with that day. I enjoyed looking at the past. Now off to Bermuda this weekend for a week.

The Beatles (well sort of)

One of the things of many on a cruise ship is the entertainment on board. This was no exception with the Norwegian Cruise Line. On board, we had the Beatles (well, sort of). They were great with music and playing. They are called Beatle Mania from England. I enjoyed them, and here is a little of them. Enjoy.
