Having Fun with Compositing

I never thought or dream about compositing. Why, cease, you should get in-camera, Right? I started to do some basic composite by doing some cloud replacement. Then after watching and practicing in Photoshop, do some more advancement. My goal for those that have been following me was to be more creative. Compositing makes me more creative. So what is Compositing? For me, it's making what I had in my mind but did not happen. Outcomes Photoshop.

So how do you do a composite? In this case, with the help of Pexals.com. I took two photos and made the above composite. Simple right? For some, yes and for others not. The big thing is making it look like you took it, and it starts with light. Next is shadows. Below are the two photos I use to make the above.

The first thing I did is cut out the women from the beach and place her in the main photo, which in this case was the sea. Now to make the women feel like she was, there was to match her with the light. With the help of curves, this was done. Still not looking real, I added some highlights to her arm and shadows in her feet and floor. Now it is getting there, but the color looked wrong. The women look cool, and the scene shows warmth, Again, I warmed the women up by adding warmth using curves again. Now it is starting to look good. One last thing I do to make sure its all looking the same with color is add is color tone over the whole image to make it look like it was all together. I do this by using color lookup and getting the scene to look like what I was thinking and, in this case, a sunset. When all done, hopefully, an image that looks like you shot it. The big things I find with compositions to look real is light, shadows, and color. Make sure the light is coming from the right direction. I love doing composite and will do this more if needed to do what I was thinking about. After all, its art and fun.
