Cancer Event

There is no question that Cancer Sucks. I am sure we have all been affected by this in one way or another. While we still have a way to go, I remember when the C-word came up, it met the survival was not very good at all. We still have a long way to go, and hopefully, someday we can say, "we have it cured."

I had the opportunity to take photo’s of the Second Annual Michelle Bard Geary Community Can certainly Symposium. This is such a great event. What I find so special about this is that it's done in a very small town, Bryan, Ohio. The education is so lovely, and sharing ideas is what makes us grow, and like I said someday, a cure.

This year's key speaker was Shannon Miller. For you, young people, Shannon is an Olympic Gold medalist. I remembered her and the team like it happen a few years ago. Well, Shannon grew up, and as she said, it does not matter if you are Olympian or Gold Medalist that, Cancer does not care. Shannon had ovarian Cancer about the size of a baseball. She, like many of us (me included), avoid the doctor. Someone told her in her head to see the doctor, and because of that, she caught her cancer early and today is cancer-free. I had a chance to talk with Shannon in-between pictures of her. Oklahoma knows how to raise kids. I have never met such a more down to earth person then Shannon. She was so sweet. Married and with a ten-year-old son and now living in Florida. She thanks God every day.

Yes, there is no question Cancer Sucks. We have two choices, do nothing or do something. Education is the key, and hopefully, someday, this horrible word will be gone.
