Constant Lights
I went to a recent workshop that was put on by Westcott. I don’t have much experience with constant lights in a studio, and this is why I went. There is some advantage with continuous light, and that is What You See Is What You Get. They showed us how to use just two lights. The disadvantage is either shooting slow shutter speed or increase ISO. However, with image stabilization or yes a tripod and better sensors on the camera, this is not huge in my opinion as It could be. We did some headshots and then we did a full body shot on a white background. Playing with constant light was impressive even with the whole body. Back the light up and now from headshot to full body. They say light is light. Meaning the light could be a flashlight; it could be a sun or even a flash. However, knowing light, well you can do just about anything. Knowing direction, color, quality and a few laws you can make just about anything you have in mind without Photoshop.
