Playing with a 5 light setup

Photography can be so much fun especially when it comes to artificial lights. Playing with color and creating motion. This was a 5 light setup. Using a gel orange, gel blue, gel purple, gel red and a non-gel beauty dish on our model. Those of you who follow me know that I had recently purchased a Canon EOS R mirrorless camera. I love it. It is doing everything that I want and more. In this shot, I used my 50 1.2 RF lens. The quality of this lens is super. Most of the time I use my 24-105 lens, but I wanted to see what the 50mm can do. After all, this lens is not inexpensive.

As far as the EOS R. I like several features. I love what I see is what I get. I can see the shot before I take it, I see the histogram, and I see the shot after taking the picture all through the viewfinder. No more looking at the back of the camera after every shot. For Portraits, I like eye detection. The camera recognizes the face and detects the eye. I am focusing on the nearest eye. If the closet eye is not in focus, you do have a shot. Last the detail of the RF lens is impressive. Especially on close-ups. As you can see it did its job.

Tonight, I have a pageant to shoot, and I will be using this 5 light setup for tonight's individual and group photo’s. Why? I like adding dimension to a picture. It is our job as photographer's and makes a 2 D picture look 3 D. Color, shadows and other things can do this. In this case, I will be using color tonight.
